At Rawhide Ridge, we strive to raise exceptionaly healthy goats.

Will Roberts, resident manager, has been farming all of his life and devotes 100% of his time to caring for our herd of approximately 275 boer goats, employing advanced care giving methods to insure a premium quality herd.

Practices like creep feeding to avoid coccidioses, giving mineral blocks of protein supplement, regular de-worming, hoof trimming and proper grain rations throughout the year are just some of the many ways we keep our boer goats healthy.

We work closely with Dr. Kevin Pelzer of Virginia Tech's School of Veterinary Medicine, who periodically brings his classes to our farm so students can gain hands-on experience by working with our goats. Our relationship with Virginia Tech also helps us to stay abreast of advancements in care giving and goat herd management.

These practices are an integral part of the quality methods we use to raise our goats.

The guard animals at RRF play a vital role in protecting our goatherds. The donkeys stand guard over our large herds and our great pyrenees dog protects the 100% full blood goats.
